Though it has been destroyed at least twice throughout the centuries, the current structure was built in the mid-1800s by Duke Wilhelm of Urach. The castle remains in the hands of the Dukes of Urach today.

Often referred to as the ‘Fairytale Castle’ or ‘Neuschwanstein’s Little Brother,’ Schloss Lichtenstein is famous for its connections to the Grimm brothers' fairytales. It was one of the filming locations for these iconic stories, contributing to its magical allure.
